Jacoby Jackson
Despite being found guilty, Jacoby Jackson will spend no time in jail.
Jacoby Jackson entered a hearing for 'sentence modification' on Feb 29, 2012. On May 3 2012 the case was reopened. The transcript was re-read in Judge Stone's court on June 27, 2012. On July 23, 2012 the court entered 'nolo prossed / nolo prosequi' and Jackson was released ROR. This means the entire case -investigation, trial, judgement - was for nothing.
Smokey received no justice.
Jacoby Jackson was found
GUILTY by a jury of his peers.
Judge Stone sentenced Jackson on August 4 2010:
11 months 29 days in jail!
Jackson's attorney immediately appealed and asked for Jackson to be released ROR pending appeal. Judge Stone imposed a $5000 cash bond instead!
On May 31, the Florida Court of Appeals affirmed the lower court's ruling. In June 2011, as a result of the appeal case, an arrest was issued for Jackson. He was then given credit for 3 days time served and released ROR.

A motion for new trial was DENIED on June 2, 2010!
Judge Stone denied Jackson's motion to dismiss on April 22.
Mr. Jackson was charged with allowing his "family" dog, Smokey, to starve to death in his backyard.
This is despite the fact that police found a bag of Beneful dog food inside the house, about 1/4 full!!!
Mr. Jackson stated to the Crestview police "[I]n the last few months I have not had the time to take care of him like I should with work and home life, he got put on the back burner."
Smokey had been dead for "some time" when police were called. Ms. Cornice Jackson said the dog was alive in the backyard. When police informed her Smokey was dead, she very quickly said he was her husband's dog, and she never went in the backyard, and didn't know anything about the dog.
We hope not all of the Jackson "family" is treated this way!!
