Margaret Fowler DMV
ALL CHARGES HAVE BEEN DROPPED against Dr. Margaret Fowler as of November 4, 2010.
The witness, Robyn A. Petit, apparently cannot be located...
Fowler's case was "transferred to another court" after Fowler waived her right to speedy trial.
She has a NEW case number. November 4 is her trial management date, after her pre-trial date being continued again on August 19.
Margaret Fowler is an alternative therapy veterinarian who bludgeoned her neighbor's cat to death.
According to her website http://www.knology.net/holisticvet/ Dr. Fowler has been practicing since 1981. According to the news reports, her current license was scheduled to expire in May 2010.
Dr. Fowler was seen outdoors by a neighbor hitting something with a mallett. When Fowler picked up the object and discarded it by a fence across the street, the neighbor could see it was a cat. Upon closer inspection, the cat belonged to the witness's boyfriend.
Bay County Sheriff Department responded, and Fowler told them initially the the cat had apparently been hit by a car, and she determined it was dead when she "poked it with her foot."
However, a necropsy performed by Dr. Melinda Merck, the senior director of veterinary forensic sciences for the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) determined the cause of death was exsanguination due to blunt force from a small round object - such as a mallett.
