The children were all very excited for the visit. Michelle discussed what it means to care for an animal, what to do if they see an animal in need, and how to behave around animals they don't know. The children seemed to get the message - one boy said "They have feelings just like us."
It's through outreach and education that we can hope to prevent future acts of cruelty. For those people who have already committed cruel acts of abuse, neglect, and even murder - maybe they will learn something if they are punished by our justice system. They may never learn that animals "have feelings just like us," but maybe they'll learn inflicting pain and suffering causes them to receive pain and suffering.
